About Me

My name is Joel Bryant. I was born in Ashville, however my father’s call to the ministry took us away for my youth. My wife and I moved to Ashville to start our family in 2005. We chose Ashville, because my family has lived here for several generations, and we both wanted to live near family. I have been working within this community my entire adult life, usually behind the scenes either through Church or non-profit organizations.

Why I want to serve the City of Ashville

In the fall of 2018, I suffered a near fatal car accident. During the rehab of this accident, which was around 6 months of rehabilitation, the members of our wonderful community poured out their love and support in more ways than I could imagine. I have longed worked within the community, mostly on unseen and unrecognized charity work through the local masonic lodges, or with some of the local churches. Since that time, I have been considering a more active role within Ashville, to have a chance to return the love and support for my community.

If I am elected to serve the City of Ashville, I pledge that every decision and every action I take would be made with the mindset that we should only support those things that bring growth, prosperity, safety, and unanimity to our beautiful hometown!

Work Life

I have worked in the IT industry for over 17 years. I started my career working as a helpdesk technician in a Tenethealh facility. We were outsourced to PerotSystems, and later on to Dell Services. During that time I took several promotions, eventually becoming a Sr. Deskside Support analyst. I later took on a Sr. IT Technical Specialist role with Laboratory Corporation Holdings of America. I later moved from support to Programming, taking a role as a Project Analyst. I then transitioned into a Systems Engineering role with our Global Open Systems Team, supporting Linux/UNIX/VMS systems.

During this time I have supported a wide variety of systems and technologies, spanning from NT Workstation up to windows 11; Windows Server 2003 to 2019; RHEL 4 – 9; Active Directory / Group Policy / Web Development (PHP/ASP/VBA/MySQL/MSSQL), and the list just goes on.

My family

I am happily married to my high school sweetheart. We have 3 wonderful children and one wonderful grandson name Grayson. We originally were members of Ashville Church of God, where my grandfather served as the founding minister. We later moved to Flow of the Spirit Church of God, which now a non-denominational Church, known as Flow Church.
